Introducing our new Children's Choir.
YES – I Want To Sing! Young Edington Singers is a new children's choir based at Edington Priory Church and meets every Thursday from 6-7pm.
Here is an opportunity for children to learn music, to make friends and to have fun singing together. Not only will the children learn musical skills, but they will also learn to work together as a team and gain confidence in public performance.
I know how much enjoyment singing in choirs can bring. I joined a local children’s choir when I was 7, and then joined a church choir when I was 8. These were the starting-points for a life-long love of singing. which has seen me participate in over 30 recordings, travel to Europe, America and even China on singing tours and perform in many of the most famous concert-halls in the world.
Choirs are not just about singing, they also bring a social life. Many of the friends I have today I met through singing.
What is so enjoyable about singing in a group? Is it the sense of personal responsibility and personal contribution? Is it the feeling that each individual is valued and important? Is it the sense of working as a team to achieve a common purpose? Is it the striving after improvement and towards perfection? Is it the thrill of performing? It’s all of these things and more.
